Decide whether the composition is read from the doorway, across a dining table or behind a reception desk. Show the full wall with its switches, sockets and openings. Discuss the pattern repeat, the joins around corners and the last narrow return, so the layout is deliberate across the whole surface rather than only its central panel.
Establish the background before hanging
Include the existing covering, any lining and the condition of the wall beneath in the preparation discussion. Unstable surfaces or unresolved staining require assessment before a finish can be specified. In a historic interior, flag any suspected early decoration before stripping. Agree whether investigation or conservation advice is needed before ordinary preparation proceeds.

Confirm the material against those requirements before ordering, including the approved method of cleaning and any restrictions associated with its use.
Resolve the edges and keep the record
Identify how the covering finishes at painted panelling, shelving and window reveals. Agree the removal and reinstatement of fittings with the relevant trade, and record any areas deliberately excluded. Keep the supplier, product, batch and colour information with the room schedule, together with the location of any spare material retained for future use.
